Announcing…

At this time, I would like to once again thank all the people who take time out of their lives to help ensure this tournament runs smoothly. I know I tend to sound like a broken record, but if we didn’t have as many volunteers as we do this tournament would not be where we are.

I am pleased to announce that our chosen recipients for 2019 are the Lucas family and Chastity Scheib. We will be using a portion of the proceeds for each as well as collecting donations through the end of the home run derby for both sources. Over the course of the weekend, there will be buckets for donations to Zion E.C. Church youth ministry fund in memory of Olivia Laudenslager.

Shirts are still available for purchase, however supplies will be limited.

Thank you fire company for all efforts you put into the week prior and weekend of the carnival and tournament. If you can volunteer to help them over the course of the weekend, please do – there are multiple options for hour slots. Again volunteers are what allow us to do what we do.

I love it when a plan comes together…

As we draw nearer to the time of the tournament, more things are falling into place.

The trophies for both the tournament and home run derby, which were provided by Galloway Lazer and Print, are done! And they look great!

The t-shirts are in production and will be ready the week prior to the start of the tournament. Shirts will be available for sale throughout the tournament weekend. Adult sizes S-XL are $15 and 2XL/3XL will be $17. Pre-orders will be taken through the 14th, after that sales will be first come, first served.

The bracket is designed with game timings in place. This may change a bit based on weather conditions for the week and weekend of the tournament. Games are scheduled for Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon.

Homerun derby segments will be: Men over 16, Women over 16, youth male and female 11-16, youth male and female under 11. Each segment listed above will bat separately starting with the adult divisions. Cost of participation is $5 with all proceeds being donated to our selected recipients, at the end of the championship game on Sunday afternoon!

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has already volunteered to help out throughout the weekend. I still need some volunteers for various parts of the tournament throughout the weekend. We do need some people who would be willing to keep the scoreboard, help keep the field, always could use more umpires, and people to help in the concession stand. Most importantly with so many things going on and moving parts throughout the weekend , we need our prayer warriors. In 8 years of this tournament we have had no serious injuries, minimal weather complications, and great participation; which I can only attribute to His blessing.

Updates

So this year, after our last fire company meeting we doe have a few updates. This year we will be offering a discount on shirts to both rostered players and sponsors. We also ordered less shirts than last year so supplies will be a bit more limited. We will continue to accept pre-orders for shirts until July 14th (so please contact Becky to let her know what sizes and how many shirts you are interested in).

This year we have an 8 team tournament, and currently are scheduled to play Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon which allows for some flexibility for weather related delays. Friday evening games are planned to start at 6pm. Saturday games are planned to start at 8 am with the home run derby scheduled to start at noon. Sunday afternoon we will start at 1.

As always we appreciate any and all who are willing to volunteer time and energy. This includes people who are willing to help keep scoreboard, umpire, and work the concession stand throughout the tournament; people to help return balls and keep tally during the homerun derby; prayer warriors and people who are able to help out throughout the week prior with set up and field prep. If you are interested again feel free to contact Becky for further information.

Attached is the current version of our bracket with tentative game times and teams listed. In all games the top name is considered “away” and the bottom name will be considered “home”. Due to previous years running much quicker than the hour time limit we have scheduled games 45 minutes apart to allow for more accurate representation of game timing. We have not removed the hour time allowance for games if it is needed, however only a limited number of games required the hour time frame.

2019 Bracket

Rough Schedule

Good evening everyone! We have determined a rough schedule for the weekend of the tournament. We plan on playing most of the first round games on Friday evening. Saturday we will play the start of the losers bracket and have all categories of our homerun derby starting with the kids! Sunday will be the last of the games including the championship game.

At the conclusion of the championship game, we will be presenting the proceeds to our chosen beneficiary (which will be announced mid July). Donations will be accepted throughout the tournament on Friday and Saturday for the beneficiary.

All are welcome to attend and the HR derby is open to anyone who wishes to participate, however children under 16 require parental/guardian consent with a parent or guardian remaining on the premises throughout the youth bracket of the derby.

As a reminder team payments are due by 7/1 for placement in the tournament. Can’t wait to see everyone there!

Shirts!

So like last year, this year we will have shirts available for purchase. This year we will be doing a moisture-wicking style black shirt. This style material is slightly more fitted than traditional cotton tees. The design for the front is beautifully designed by Sydney, our current fire company chief’s daughter, and fitted for the shirts by the art team at Walter Boyer Promotional Items.

Shirts will be available for sale at the time of the tournament (July 26-28) in a limited supply. The best way to ensure you get your shirts in your desired sizes is to pre-order. Prepayment is appreciated by not required. Contact Becky Wetzel to pre-order your shirts. Pre orders will be taken until 7/14.
